Always Another News Cycle in Reserve
Morning Thoughts #278
The goal of what today passes for journalism is to strain your emotions. Breaking and shell shocking, more than anything, it does not let up. The charge of one news cycle, quickly followed by another. No downtime allowed for emotional regulation. To keep you perpetually off balance.
And we allow this, of course, making the choice daily to engage with the enemy. We show them the whites of our eyes, deadened to a scrolling march, leaving ourselves open to attack, making eyes at their narratives as if inviting them to approach us.
Oh winter of our critical capacity, I can see the bayonets on their breath.
