Debtor's Depth
Poem
Debtor's Depth
The beautiful moment
I couldn’t be content with
until further discovery
What was given
could only be
provisionally experienced
until some meaning
was found
And its finding,
to mean anything,
had to be intentional
So I shunned
the surface
on which all lay
and started below,
digging with
the strength
my curiosity provided
I never considered
the eventual effect
of this
on my seeing
All I gathered,
I never lifted
not realizing
the lack of light
I mistook for the lack
of everything else
