Oh friends, don’t flee, but rather dive into life! Though beware of diving into shallow waters! Nothing is deeper than family, true friends, and local community. Serve them. If you don’t have them, create them. This is how you create a better world—not through hoarding your gifts in the wild hope of one day dispensing them far away in the most alien of lands.

What fools most famous philanthropists are! They are not diving into life; no, they are bored and looking for a more exotic way to stroke their ego! Whatever they claim is the purpose of their grand (always well-marketed) ventures, what they are really doing is just high-diving back into themselves—into their identities as the good and selfless ones!

And given this type’s shallow depths (their persistent lack of real self-reflection!), how dangerous such actions really are! And to be fair, the tenor of the most vocal portion of today’s activist class begins to make more sense when you consider it may have been preceded by serious head injuries from exactly this sort of impulse…
