Do not overstrain when thinking back, sometimes the best memories are excavated lazily and impressionistically. If you are prone to setting out on archaeological digs of your personal past, remember: Investigating the substance of your footing involves necessary digging, but who needs to go through layers of sediment (and assessing it at a granular level) to confirm whether you reside on stable ground? If your footing is firm, go forth. Worry less about the makeup of this firmness. And, certainly, where your standing is not firm, it may be useful to discover why this may be, but don’t waste time imagining deep and persistent mud as turning out better. Hobble yourself, best as you are able, to somewhere you can better stand - or, even better, strut.
