I am not accusing, I am including. I am just one of many displaced by modernity. As the self-centeredness of youth molts away, our experiences become contextualized. It starts to dawn on us that we probably weren't the great "exception" all this time. As we seek to understand our own emotions, we come to recognize that the very act of experiencing them provides compelling evidence that others, in comparable circumstances, have also experienced similar emotions.
The world is heavy. How could we truly believe it was just us pushing it away? Did you grow up believing that you were uniquely alienated in a way you couldn’t quite put your finger on? If so, think astronomically. One of the most compelling arguments for the existence of extraterrestrial life is the sheer size of the cosmos. With billions of galaxies and billions of stars, it is presumptuous to assume that Earth is the only planet with the necessary conditions for life. Likewise, when feelings of burden and disconnection engulf you, ponder this: among the countless individuals of your generation and world, it is probable that many others are also facing comparable circumstances that have led to similar mindsets.
You are not alone! Do you sense it? That feeling of not having a true home? We may have a home we love, but do we lack the complete peace that comes from having a home of home in our hearts? A home that encompasses both past and future? An identity that is firmly rooted in beliefs so incredibly solid, beyond our personal traits or selves? Home is a feeling that we keep searching for, some look back and some look forward. Some believe that it has been lost, while others say, "No, it's just up ahead." As soon as we realize that we are not alone in this pursuit, we may discover that our destination is closer than we once imagined. As the world grows smaller, our desire to be a part of something bigger only intensifies. Why don't we start building today?
