The generation gap moves increasingly inward. Fellow free spirits, do you realize how much programming we’ve had to overcome to relate to the condition of ourselves normally?
If we now have sturdy conceptual ground to walk on, do you realize how much dirt had to be transported from elsewhere to make this so? I read and read not just for wisdom, but for a foothold to walk towards tomorrow. Oh, rich and strong soil of the great works, of the classics! Honest words, not afraid of their contagious strength! Slowly, with the right teachers, we have truly begun to weed out all this invasive guilt—from ourselves now, and one day, from our entire history!
To live without shame, to self-reprieve from a condemnation readied for us at educational birth—even our parents don’t fully understand the cultural obstacles we’ve had to dodge! We will not hold that against the older generations, but may they also come to see how much courage even a single question costs today if that question is not officially promulgated!
Oh, but rejoice, for we are—or will soon be—reclamation projects now ready as legitimate foundations! Someday soon, we will build a new city together on reclaimed land! Friends, this is the way!
