The creation of humanity, as a category distinct from animals, happened within a spontaneous moment of conscious realization. In each of our own lifetimes, we carry the potential to have that moment where we go from animal to self, ourselves! But if the whole conscious force of our energy is spent tending to the animal needs of the body, how likely is it that that higher self will go uncreated! Adam and Eve were born full-grown, because that is how it must occur if we mean humanity as a special category altogether and not just another species of animal life. The tie of hopes and regrets, conscious plans and unconscious patterns, childhood freedom and adult duties, the light and the dark of our days - all woven together into a contingent tapestry of realized self. Woe to a world that strips our paths of its stepping stones to instead construct temples where to practice the rites of the new popular cult of the Vestal Victims (a modern adaptation of the Roman Vestal Virgins).
