More often than not, the goal is one of proximity. Oh, peak, why fight the crowds for the famous view when a few steps down's grandeur will more than do? Any over-obsession with the title begins to overlook the original reason for its pursuit. Do you climb for the sake of identity or eye-dentity? Is it yourself you're picturing at the top, or, rather, once you get sufficiently there, the wondrous things you'll see to do?
